As a noted international authority on quality classroom assessment, Dr. Anne Davies has supported educators, school faculties, and school systems as they have worked towards improving assessment practices in support of learning. Currently, Anne Davies focuses her time on researching and writing about classroom assessment. Anne led the Canadian team as they organized and then hosted the 5th International Symposium on Assessment for Learning and the 1st Canadian Symposium on Assessment for Learning in Fredericton, NB in April 2014.
Anne Davies, Ph.D., is the author and co-author of more than 30 books and multimedia resources, as well as numerous chapters and articles including the best seller, Making Classroom Assessment Work, now it its third edition. Leading the Way to Assessment for Learning: A Practical Guide makes up the Leaders’ series together with its companion guidebook, Transforming Schools and Systems Using Assessment: A Practical Guide (the second edition of Transforming Barriers to Assessment for Learning: Lessons Learned from Leaders). Along with co-authors Sandra Herbst and Brenda Augusta, Anne recently published Collecting Evidence and Portfolios: Engaging Students in Pedagogical Documentation, the fourth book in the popular Knowing What Counts series. Anne and co-author Sandra Herbst also wrote Grading, Reporting, and Professional Judgment in Elementary Classrooms (2016) and A Fresh Look at Grading and Reporting in High Schools (2014).
